Researchers at TSI have conducted a study entitled "the Status of Iran's Machine-building Industry in Selected Industrial Domains" for a year period ending may 2018. This research has been ordered and supported by the deputy of industrial affairs of Center for Progress and Development of Iran (CPDI)

In this research, the status of five selected industries has been scrutinized; machine-woven carpet, polymer and plastic (downstream petrochemical industries), medicine, food industry,, and a problem-finding study was conducted using the opinions of experts and activists of each industry, manufacutrers, consumers of machineries and related organizations

In another part of the research, a comprehensive study was performed on the experiences of successful countries in machine-building industry. Accordingly, Germany was known as the leading country, Korea was known as a country being able to catch up with the leading countries in the last few decades and India was known as an emerging country in terms of policy making, institutions and particular programs at national level

Thirty four policy tools in the form of 4 main strategies have been suggested by the research team at TSI after classifying the challenges and being inspired by the experiences of selected countries. Once approved by the beneficiary, the preliminaries for the implementation of the proposed strategies in different phases in coordination with organizations and institutions will be tracked

It is worth noting that, the secretatriat of the program for supporting the market development of advanced machinery of vice-presidency for science and technology has also had a close cooperation with TSI researchers
